Legend has it that it was the first street through which Ferdinand III entered Seville after conquering it; and the history books say that Philip II entered through it during his visit to the city. Since the 13th century it has been called Calle de Armas.
The attempt to call it Once de Junio Street to commemorate the date of the proclamation of the ephemeral First Republic did not prosper.
And so it remained as the street of Alfonso XII since 1883.
