Nestled in a rural location with an elevated position, this single-storey retreat offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a spacious and inviting open-plan living space. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up delicious meals, and the large picture windows flood the room with natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cottage boasts two comfortable bedrooms, providing ample space for a small family or a group of friends. A well-appointed bathroom with a bath and shower over provides a relaxing retreat after a day of exploration. Outside is a decked terrace with a seating area leading down to a paddock and stream.
From the nearby public footpath enjoy tranquil views of the surrounding countryside, with the majestic Durham Cathedral in the distance. A beautiful walk along the river banks takes you to the historic city of Durham (25-30 min walk) with its castle and cathedral, which must be visited to appreciate the awe-inspiring architecture. The Gala Theatre is located in the centre of the city, making the cottage a perfect location for guests wanting to enjoy a theatre trip as part of their break. Packed with top-quality restaurants, bistros, cafés and bars, Durham is a thriving city with plenty of entertainment at any time of the year. The incredible Lumiere Festival takes place every second November, enjoy the jazz festival, arts festival, miners gala and many more free attractions, as well as the weekly farmers’ market.
The university colleges and campuses can be found nearby, and this is the ideal base to get to know the university and visit friends and family who might be attending one of the graduation ceremonies. The top-class cricket ground of Durham County Cricket Club is also only a 20-minute drive away, great for enjoying a test match or concert. Visit Beamish Living Museum, a good day out for families of all ages. Newcastle and the Metro Centre are 30 minutes by car. The Heritage Coast is under 20 miles away. This lovely cottage provides a superb base from which to enjoy our beautiful county of Durham. Beach 14 miles. Pub and restaurant 1 mile.
Please be aware that the grounds are shared with the owners, whose hens are often free-range. There is a small craft workshop on site too. Use of the Hot Tub is to be booked in, to ensure privacy.
