Westgate Cottage is a two-bedroom cottage in Winchester city centre for up to five guests, with a decked garden, two parking permits and dogs welcome.
It has a king bedroom, a twin bedroom and a single sofa bed, and one bathroom with a shower.
On foot: Great Hall 3 minutes, station 5, cathedral 10. Guests have the whole cottage and garden.
A lockbox at the front door is used for self check-in, between 16:00 and 21:00. Check-out time is 10:00. To unload, you can stop for a short time on the yellow line by the bus stop, then park in permit Zone Q with the two free digital permits we arrange.
We need each car's registration number, make and colour. ID check and deposit: after booking, the lead guest completes a short ID check and deposit step with our partner SafeGuest.
You choose either a Damage Deposit of £350 (your card is saved and nothing is taken up front; it can only be charged for a claim SafeGuest approves after check-out) or SafeGuest's No Deposit fee of £40 (a one-off fee paid to SafeGuest). If you can't use the photo ID check, message us and we'll arrange a short video call instead.
Please don't send ID documents by email.
Your booking is on the Blue Puffin Stays Booking Terms (Guests) and the House Rules for this home. Dogs: a maximum of two. There is a pet fee. The last check-in time is 21:00. Late check-in is not possible. Pets: Allowed (maximum 2). Smoking: Not allowed.
Events: Not allowed.
Suitable for: children and infants.
Additional rules: During your stay - Dogs are welcome (up to 2); please ask us about any other pet. - Please tell us if anything breaks, rather than fixing it. Before you leave - Please leave used dishes in the sink or dishwasher, and rubbish in the kitchen bins. - Lock up, put the keys back in the lockbox and scramble the code. - Message us when you've left, so the cleaners can start. Our local Blue Puffin Stays team looks after Westgate Cottage.
Message us through your booking at any time: we reply between 8 am and 8 pm, seven days a week, and help with check-in until 9 pm. Your check-in details, with the lockbox instructions and an emergency number, arrive before your stay.
Check-in closes at 9 pm, so please plan to arrive by then. Westgate Cottage is on Upper High Street, at the top of the historic centre of Winchester.
Walking times from the cottage: Great Hall and the Round Table 3 minutes; High Street shops and restaurants 5 minutes; Winchester Cathedral 10 minutes; the Guildhall and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital 12 minutes; the statue of King Alfred on the Broadway 13 minutes; University of Winchester and Wolvesey Castle 15 minutes.
The Cathedral Christmas Market takes place in November and December.
St Catherine's Hill, a nature reserve with views of the city, is about 35 minutes on foot. The cottage has two floors.
The ground floor has two living areas: a sitting room at the front, and a kitchen with a dining area at the back, which opens onto the garden.
The two bedrooms and the bathroom are on the first floor. Highlights - Central location: most of the main sights of Winchester are within 15 minutes on foot - Sitting room with an exposed brick wall and a fireplace for decoration only (not for use) - Kitchen and dining room with a door to the garden - Small enclosed garden with decking and outdoor seating - Two free parking permits for on-street parking in Zone Q - Up to two dogs welcome (a pet fee applies) - Wi-Fi and a Smart TV - Self check-in between 16:00 and 21:00 Bedrooms - Bedroom 1: king-size bed - Bedroom 2: 2 single beds (a small room; the door does not open fully) - Sitting room: single sofa bed All beds are made before you arrive.
There is no cot. Towels, toiletries, tea and coffee are provided, with extra pillows and blankets and blackout blinds. Bathroom - One bathroom on the first floor, with a shower (no bath) Kitchen and laundry Kitchen: oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and pod coffee machine, with cookware, crockery and glasses.
Laundry: washing machine, tumble dryer, iron. Please note The cottage is on Upper High Street, which is a busy road.
The windows reduce most of the traffic noise.
The permit parking spaces are shared and are not always free near the cottage; paid car parks are close by.
